Middletown is in the middle of Orange County, the fastest growing county in New York. Here are some statistics showing that it is also a very diverse county.

Races in Orange County, New York:

  • White Non-Hispanic (77.6%)
  • Hispanic (11.6%)
  • Black (8.1%)
  • Other race (4.1%)
  • Two or more races (2.2%)

Peanut Butter

June 25, 2007 · Leave a Comment

My pastor, Chris Grinstead, says sometimes going to church is like eating a peanut butter sandwich.  Although peanut butter & jelly would be better, just peanut butter will get us through. We may have to go to church out of plain duty, kind of like eating just a dry peanut butter sandwich, but if we keep going sooner or later we will receive some jelly. As leaders we don’t have the comfort of missing for any little reason. We must always remember that we have followers and what we do they will mimic on a much larger scale. So, the next time you think that it would be o.k. to skip church, just drink a glass of milk, it helps the peanut butter go down.

Fear

June 23, 2007 · Leave a Comment

“Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear.” -Ambrose Redmoon

I have spent all day at a class of missionaries and church planters talking about pressure. We all feel the pressure from people. Pressure to perform and we sometimes are scared to death. Some of the things that we discussed were:  attendance, number of salvations, the giving, our buildings, and how many people are maturing spiritually.  If we focus on the product it can scare us to death, but we need to focus rather on the everyday processes that we can improve on. I know personally that the task which is set before me looks like a scary giant,  yet God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power (to complete the daily tasks) , and of love( to handle the people and problems) , and of a sound mind ( to be able to control my actions. )  Just remember, we all need not forget that there is something definently more important than fear.

Just Love Painting

June 20, 2007 · Leave a Comment

My wife and I have been painting our house for the last 3 days.  Painting is not my most favorite past time. Maybe it won’t be too much longer until we are finished. We are excited about moving to Middletown, Ny.

One of the marks of successful people is that they are action-oriented. One of the marks of average people is that they are talk-oriented.” -Brian Tracy

Family In Middletown

June 14, 2007 · Leave a Comment

I must say family is key..but family structures are unique here…Alot of parents work in the city, or nj and commute, hence not spending alot of time with children and or spouse.  There are a significant amount of stay at home moms but there are also alot of struggling minorities with single parent homes.  Middletown is a very diverse town with regard to class or status for lack of a btr word.

Hope this information is helping you.  Please feel free to ask anything that would help with the start up of the chuch!

Best Regards,
